Hurricane Policy
We understand and respect the concern and apprehension that may arise from an approaching hurricane. The following policies apply for each room booked:
If the weather service issues a hurricane advisory or warning for the Charleston, SC area:
- Guests residing at the inn may choose to evacuate. In this case, we will charge only for those nights spent with us up to the time of the evacuation.
- For those guests with pending arrivals, we would retain the deposit and credit it to a future stay.
If there is NO hurricane advisory or warning for the Charleston, SC area (i.e. there is not an imminent threat): For vacation to be cancelled because a hurricane “might” make landfall near Downtown Charleston or that there “might” be an aftermath, deposits will NOT be refunded and will NOT be credited to a future stay. Your card will be charged the entire amount owed for the scheduled stay.
If a hurricane has made landfall and The Palmer Home (or downtown Charleston) is not “fit” for guests: For guests with pending reservations affected by such a situation, we would retain the deposit and apply it to a future stay.
